I know what you mean about familiarity, at any rate. So far, Nikolas is one of 2-3 people who reminds Damarhis most of the laissez-faire aristocrats he's most used to. There's some dere-by-association, but also just some comfort and friendliness coming from a perception that they have things in common. Damarhis is... kind of born to be a second banana, although he doesn't recognize it consciously. He's most comfortable as a trusted lieutenant, and Nikolas is in many ways the sort of person he usually seconds.

On the sex front, Damarhis won't be shocked by promiscuity, or bisexuality, or any of the usual tripping points for that sort of thing - but let on that this involves actual affection or respect for commoner lovers and he'll find it an appalling breach of good taste.

On the whole, he's wary enough to still be sounding him out, but Damarhis is instinctively and viciously loyal to people who act like they like or respect him. So it looks promising, anyway.
