What a pain in the ass but Nikolas loves him ok. He isn't entirely comfortable around him mostly because Ed has a personality that's difficult for Nikolas to ever get ENTIRELY comfortable with! He is much more suited to Al-types actually than to Ed-types. But Ed is funny, and cute, and fascinating, and also obviously someone worthy of a TON OF RESPECT. I mean not only could he murder Nikolas as soon as look at him, he's intelligent and relatively well-adjusted and has his head on straight despite all the shit he's seen. But he's silly and reactive and flusterable enough that Nikolas doesn't generally feel . . . threatened or combative or intimidated like he might otherwise! They do a lot of trading of the upper hand in their conversations and he likes that; it's entertaining banter and Nikolas values it. It's not exactly restful, and Nikolas really intensely needs restful in his life from his friends, but things would get boring if all of them were soothing calming kind people, so he values that Ed isn't one of those while still being a generally awesome dude.

He had a great big silly crush on Ed just because Ed is so fucking cute and he was enjoying that! It's less so now because he hooked up with Winter and because Ed gave that his blessing (BY BLESSING I MEAN THREATS.) but he does still think he's adorable and kind of just wants to cuddle him a lot and make him blush and fluster and put his face in his hair. eddddwwwaaaardd

But it's not anything more serious than a hilarious crush--I mean he does consider him a real friend and genuinely cares about him, and Nikolas is the kind of guy who loves his friends, but any love he has here is platonic even if it's accompanied by a total willingness to make out with him if Nikolas weren't attached! And even though he looks up to Ed in a way, he totally recognizes and gets annoyed with all of Ed's flaws. It's kind of soothing to him actually because he's spent a long time in life with the only people he knew either being total shit to him or being held up on a high pedestal because they were ~perfect and untouchable~. He's still getting over that stage in his life so having a dude like Ed around where they bicker a lot and don't see eye to eye but they also care for one another and share things is good for him. (This is also why Ed reminds him a little of Frest, whom he had a similar relationship budding with.)

I don't think I can talk about comfortable relationships because I don't think Ed is uncomfortable with... any... like there are people that he dislikes and makes enemies of and they think the worst of him and that is perfectly okay and comfortable just as much as the ones that he clicks really well with and thinks of as friends 8D;;

That said he's run into trouble in Court with people who don't have "strong enough" personalities, in the sense that he unintentionally runs over and tramples them. He doesn't enjoy doing that, but isn't really someone who's all that interested in (or necessarily capable of) moderating himself enough to avoid it :'). He finds Nikolas isn't one of those––Nikolas is intelligent, engaging, not afraid to step up and challenge him or take the (verbal) upper hand and so someone he can talk to! Someone agreeable or who could be dominated in a conversation too easily would be boring. He also in a sense admires him for being able to do that because he's gotten a definite sense of the hhhhuuuuge difference between his world and Nikolas's, and the fact that Nikolas at least believes that he's not on the same level as all the overpowered freaks wandering around but is still apparently up for baiting them anyway :|a (which he doesn't buy anyway cuz some of the most badass and terrifying people he knows were normal humans)

Sometimes he finds Nikolas super irritating and ridiculous, he seriously doubts his ability to cope at least in the short-term when stuff gets Real, and doesn't necessarily consider him the most reliable person. H O W E V E R Ed is Ed and most of his irritation and anger and whathaveyou is very surface-level, so even if he's never said it he does consider Nikolas a friend and is willing to extend his loyalty to him. He thinks he's trustworthy and caring even if he doesn't see it himself or puts himself down, and that he's perfectly capable of stepping up and being everything he wants to be, and in fact that's exactly what will happen as soon as he starts spending less time explaining his shortcomings :|a Ed takes people as they are and doesn't believe there is any reason they can't be strong and amazing and ~walk forward~ and overcome all of their challenges, and in fact expects them to do this. Including Nik, and he will personally boot Nik in the rear if he gets stuck :Db ~friendship~

Uhhhh what else... he likes that Nikolas treats him as an adult/equal, that is always a plus :|a he wishes Nikolas was less of an issue minefield if only cuz Ed is not a precision instrument he is blunt force trauma with two speeds: "sleep" and "5th gear full throttle" so he's... not so great at minefields like that... he's perfectly aware of this (and most of his own other flaws except maybe ones relating to more immature/childish things like his relationship with his father) but. O-oh well sorry Nik.

THEY'RE MOSTLY VAGUE. I need to get off my ass and read all the translated available SDR2 stuff because I am definitely apping Souda to Court next! I just. Need to do that. As a fun fact I don't know how much if anything you know about SDR2 but I keep fantasizing about cross-canon CR I want him to have and I keep ending up with characters you play in various games which amuses the shit out of me. HE DEFINITELY NEEDS TO MEET ED because he's a genius mechanic and will have a gigantic boner for Ed's automail (and shares his hilarious aesthetic sense); he's also kind of the Yosuke of his canon so I was like MAN I WANT TO PLAY HIM IN A GAME WITH A YOSUKE SOMEDAY. O LOLOL THAT'S ALSO SANNE

(then a few days later I thought about how he should meet a Kyouko someday because they both grew up dirt poor and would think nothing of eating the Clubs food because holy shit tons of free food who cares if it's bad food and then I was like--WAIT--)

ANYWAY THOUGH. Right now that is my only concrete plan! I have a few much more vague plans for both Aather and Court; for one thing my lineup is all dudes right now and I miss playing LADIES and there are a few in particular I want to app places, especially Toujou Ruby, who has the benefit of being an extremely good fit for EITHER Aather or Court. I just need to decide which one I want to app her to. (And reread/catch up with her canon.)

After that uh. There are a couple 07-Ghost characters I want to try out, and I actually bought all of Death Note with the intention of apping Misa to Aather someday but idk if that'll happen, I miss playing from Negima!, and so on! I ALSO NEED TO READ PANDORA HEARTS APPARENTLY?!

So the answer is only one concrete plan but a lot of vague possibilities I guess!

OH THIS AND THAT she's very silly and... well also overreactive whups that's two in court. But in a different sense, she doesn't have Ed's temper she's just v. high-energy. I'd love to play around with her vore!monster because it's freakin' terrifying 8'D terrorize the massessssss and I'd love her to get a stupid crush like she did in Sabra because she's so fail at romance. She also just gets quirky ideas in her head like LET'S MAKE A HAUNTED HOUSE USING REAL GHOSTS and I WILL BE YOUR LOVE ALLY WE WILL SOLVE YOUR LOVE LIFE PROBLEMS BY REENACTING A CHEESY SOAP OPERA PLOT and I'd like to get her into that.

Basically she's meant to be pretty laid back and I'll throw her around wherever seems fun I think :|a

The answers below about monogamy and Hatter are both relevant to his general SOTU so READ THOSE TOO and then the rest goes here!

Overall he's doing pretty well, especially since he's so fucking happy to be hooked up with Winter now huhuhu. And actually being with Winter has worked out better than he was worried--the whole reason they DIDN'T hook up on like the second day is because Nikolas was really worried that it would loop around into being unhealthy for them both because of Winter's circumstances and how much trouble they were having communicating and relating to one another. But they got over some of that and finally spilled at each other and making it official actually helped a lot rather than hindering that! So most of the weight of his own problems has been lifted off of Nikolas.

NOW HE HAS EVERYONE ELSE'S PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH. The thing about Nikolas though is that that's not necessarily bad for him; he thrives under pressure and when he has responsibility and things to do, people to take care of. When he starts to crack and sink into depression and self-harm and stuff is when he's left to be lonely with nothing to do but dwell on his own problems and no one to reach out to for help with them. When he's put in that position he slides into really awful behavior patterns! But right now he's away from his shitty family, with a wide support network, dating his FAVORITE PERSON IN THE WORLD, and that's a good place for him to turn outward and begin to focus on you know, I really don't like how shit is going down here in Court, I hate people getting hurt, maybe I can do a thing about this and approach that rationally. (He wants better conditions in general and to learn more about technology and his current plan is to make his way up to King in a laid-back, slow sort of way, with Winter, and then to stay there and turn all of his focus onto improving conditions for the lower classes.)

As for master/servant plans, he and Winter have discussed it, and he's going to take Winter as a servant when they're both more settled in their relationship! His real ultimate desire is to somehow get Gil and Hatter rolled into that too, all under him, and he'd be open to other people if he and Winter both agreed and were close to them--but as long as he has Winter he's happy.

I WANT TO KNOW ABOUT ED'S NAKAMA THREADS KICKING HIM IN THE FACE ABOUT MIRROR.

UHHMM he talked about it with Al and Ling basically, and with Al he just felt really really guilty like fuck I'm upsetting my little brotherrrrr I'm acting like such a selfish jerrrrrrk though at the same time he couldn't let go of the whole keep Al the fuck away from her thing even if it WAS selfish because. Just because :( like it's still amazing to him that Al is back to being Al \o/ that's still new to him and he has no idea how he(?) did it and Mirror's threat was very specifically "I will stick him back in an artificial body" so NOPE.GIF. So that conversation landed on the compromise of okay Al will stay away but Ed has to go find backup elsewhere.

Ling was more just this constant pressure/progression of WHAT HAPPENED OKAY WE'RE HEALING YOU AND NOW WE'RE GOING TO DEAL WITH THIS and while they didn't specifically talk about how he'd been dealing with Mirror and it's not like he got scolded for the approach he'd taken thus far, it was more like... just the very straightforward matter-of-fact way it was handled like there wasn't even a question of what was going to happen, obviously Ling was gonna pitch in :|a

Just a very firm real reminder that he's got awesome friends that've got his back and being ridiculous about the whole thing was completely unnecessary \o/

NOT BLOWING ALL OF HIS MONEY. I thought of that one way belatedly as compared to the others but it's hilarious because he seriously does so every time he gets some. Boy does not know the meaning of saving. It's not even that he spends a lot on frivolous shit, he also buys presents, gives it away, etc. Okay he buys some frivolous shit too but it's along the lines of FOOD HE DOESN'T WANT TO THROW UP rather than "oh look at this pretty thing!" Serviceable clothes, etc.! He tends to hit his objectives extremely often so he's like in a constant state of either having a whole lot of money or having zero silver because he just spent it all. If he would set some aside in his purse and not touch it it would start multiplying and he'd make a shitload of interest, but he doesn't know this yet because . . . he's never done it. (Also he doesn't pay much attention to the exact numbers of his silver.)

A FIGHT WITH NICO that ended when Nico accidentally crushed it with some rock.

So now he'll have to blow all of his money getting a new steampunk arm. But it's ok cuz I actually made "breaking automail" a high-paying objective so it's sort of self-funding in terms of replacements... it was the northern automail based on his canon point but it'll probably be replaced with something a lot more basic (and heavier) tho.

Also he'll probably stick to the dorms until it's replaced because running into crazy gods and goddess with one arm sounds unsafe :|a
